STRATHROY, ON. - OFSAA, the Dorchester Beavers are coming back.

For the second consecutive season, the Beavers won the WOSSAA 1A girls' soccer title, to earn a spot at the provincial high school tournament.

Sarah Smith scored twice and Avery Dance, Maddy McLellan and Annika Nolte each had one goal, as the Beavers dumped the South Huron Sabres, 5-1, in the 1A gold medal game, at Van Dyk Park.

"We had very strong ball movement and a lot of speed on the sides," Dorchester striker Hannah Vickers said. "I'm excited to return with a new group of talented girls."

A year ago, Dorchester finished fifth, losing in the quarterfinals.

"We all get along which shows on the field as everyone is involved and we play as a team," said Vickers, who scored both goals, in the Beavers' 2-0 semifinal win against Strathroy Holy Cross.

On the boys' draw, Dorchester lost the bronze medal game, 4-3, in overtime to London Westminster. Holy Cross who edged Dorchester, 2-1, in the semifinals, won the gold medal, defeating Clinton St. Anne's, 3-2, in overtime.

Holy Cross took home the girls' bronze medal, defeating North Middlesex.

OFSAA soccer is June 6-8, in Ancaster.
