Three gold medals for OXEL wrestling

CALEDONIA, Ont. - Three members of the OXEL club won gold medals at the Ontario Cadet (14-15 years old) - Juvenile (16-17 years) wrestling championships, May 7.

Mandy Penner, at girls' 46-kilograms, Hannah King, at 43-kg and Helen King, at 69-kg, stood a top the podium.

In juvenile boys, Gabriel Forsyth, at 110-kg and Jeremy Anderson, at 55-kg, both won bronze medals.

Owen Dale just missed the podium, placing fourth, in Cadet boys' 65-kg. Tyler Dale finished fifth, at 71-kg.

Seven OXEL wrestlers brought home hardware from the Canada Youth Festival.

In tyke boys, Rory Dale, at 25-kg and Carter Anderson, at 24-kg, brought home silver medals, while William Bamford, took bronze, at 22-kg.

At the kid level, Tristan Cheema, grabbed a silver medal, at 38-kg, and Charlie Bamford, bronze, at 36-kg.

Novice boy Anthony Dale captured a bronze medal, in 26-kg.

Bantam girls Sophia Gray grabbed a bronze medal, at 64-kg.

At a Youth Festival, at Orillia, April 23, Anthony Dale won bronze, in the Novice 26/17-kg class and Rory Dale was fourth, in the tyke 25-kg class.
