DORCHESTER -  Already with a pair of tournament wins, the Dorchester Atom A Dragons had their biggest achievement of the season, qualifying for International Silver Stick.

The Dragons went undefeated at a regional Silver Stick tournament, December 28-30th.

Forward William Downing earned tournament MVP, scoring both goals in the Dragons’ 2-1 win over Erie North Shore in the final.

“The team totally bought in the system and processes related to our team motto, which is One Team,” Dragons head coach Marc Purdy said. “It's a motto we have set since the start of the season and have believed in it which has lead to our successes.

“I am very proud of the players and what they accomplished this weekend and I am excited to see them build upon this experience and continue the solid play in the upcoming playoffs and International Silver Stick (January 18-20th, in Sarnia).”

Dorchester won their pool defeating the Essex Ravens, 3-2 and Woodstock Jr. Navy Vets.

In the semifinals Dorchester blanked Mt. Brydges, 4-0, back-stopped by goalie Ryder Brown. Chase Cameron, Kian O’Brien, Cameron Muzylowsky and Downing scored.

“Great goaltending again supported our best effort of the season,” said Purdy of the semifinal.

Dorchester and Mt. Brydges tied twice in league action earlier this season.

“This is by far the most important win and highlight for this Dragons team,” added Purdy.  “This tournament was compiled of strong competition from each and every team participating and to come out on top was an amazing feeling for all of us.”
