ST. THOMAS - Thomas "Tommy" Jones welcomed everyone with a smile and a willingness to help without hesitation.

The St. Thomas Stars long time trainer and dressing room and equipment volunteer passed away on Sunday, January 23.

Jones was 71.

Stars' owner and general manager Joe Daniels said Jones saw many players and coaches come and go through the organization over his nearly 30 years with the club.

"He'd always talked to you. He'd always give you whatever he could. That's the type of guy he was. He's going to be missed there's no doubt," Daniels said. "It's always nice to show up at the dressing room, even if things are going bad as the team, to a smiling face."

Jones had a lasting impact on many former Stars.

"I had a lot of players reach out to me," Daniels said. "That means they respected and are very thankful for the job that he did over the years. They remembered."

Family and friends will be received at the Arn-Lockie Funeral Home, 45 Main Street West, Norwich, ON, 519-863-3020, on Saturday, January 29, from 2-4 pm. Cremation to follow. A private family interment service will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Tommy, may be made to the Charity of choice.
