   Second in three races at Winter Classic while Eagles' Broer has four top five swims

LONDON, Ont. - Mac Watson led all local athletes at the final invitational swim meet before the championship season begins in February.

The Parkside Collegiate Institute swimmer placed second in the boys' 50-metre free, 50-metre fly and 100-metre free races, at the Winter Classic, January 11, at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre (CGAC).

Last year, as a grade nine athlete, Watson won silver (junior 50m free) and bronze medals (junior 100m free) at OFSAA.

The Thames Valley Regional Athletics (TVRA) swim championships are February 6-7, followed by WOSSAA, on February 15, both at the CGAC.

OFSAA returns to Windsor, February 27-28.

Parkside's Briar McCaw finished seventh, in the girls' 50-metre fly, ninth, 50m free and 10th, 100m I.M.

McCaw joined Kailey Dennis, Alison Duncan and Rayne Oliver, on PCI's 200-metre medley relay team, which placed sixth.

The East Elgin Eagles were led by Haley Broer, who finished second in the girls' 100-metre fly, third, 100m I.M. and fifth, 50m fly. Then Broer, with Maggie Zimmer, Brianna Cunningham and Haileigh Neusteter, placed third, in the girls' 200-metre medley relay race.

In their individual races, Neusteter finished third, in the 100-metre fly and sixth, in the 100m I.M.; Cunningham, eighth, 100m free and Zimmer, eighth, 100m breast-stroke.

Melena Siciannas placed 10th, in the girls' 100-metre back.

Seth Walker was second in the boys' 100-metre fly and third in the 100m I.M.

Jillian Barlett led the St. Joseph's Rams' team placing fourth in the girls' 50-metre breast and sixth, in the 50m back. Barlett, Madison Morin, Hailey Demeray and Megan McCord, were seventh, in the girls' 200-metre medley relay race.

Demeray finished sixth, in the 50m breast and eighth, in the 50m back. Morin was 10th, in the 50m back.

Luke Barry placed fifth, in the boys' 50m breast and seventh, in the 100m breast.

For the Central Elgin Titans, Quinn Burgon was 10th , in the boys' 100m breast-stroke race.
