DORCHESTER, Ont. - It was over before the Dorchester Dolphins could get a footing.

A 2-1 overtime win in game four gave the Wellesley Applejacks a four game sweep of the PJHL Doherty Division quarterfinal against the Dolphins, Sunday at Dorchester.

Dimitri Eletherisdis scored 5:15 in to the fourth period, capitalizing on a Dolphins' turnover at the Wellesley blueline.

Scoreless for half a game, Jake L'Heureux put the Applejacks on the board in the second period. Dolphins' TJ Cleminson tied the affair on the power play four minutes into the third.

"Their goalie is good. We had a tough time generating chances in the first three games," Dolphins' head coach Chris Willsie said. "Tonight we generated quite a bit of chances. We just couldn't get puck luck around the net. We could have had three or four goals in the first."

The Dolphins were without leading scorer Nolan Milne and captain Tristan Gerth, the team's leading scoring defenceman, along with defenceman Wyatt Atkins.

"No excuses, but we were missing our leading goal scorer because of a (crap) suspension and our captain has a broken ankle from game one," said Willsie. "Gerth runs one power play and Wyatt Atkins runs one power play. (Wyatt) was out after a cross check to his knee last game."

With a condensed schedule, the series lasted only five days.

Games two and three were penalty filled and from each game, the Dolphins lost a player for the next game due to suspension.

"Good coaching by them because what they did worked," said Willsie.

Milne faced constant shadowing by Applejacks' Austin Stemmler.

"Good coaching by them because what they did worked," said Willsie. "They definitely had a plan to get under his (Milne) skin. (Stemmler) was giving him a whack after every whistle and the refs were letting it go. It was up to Milne to not do anything or fight back."

Milne was handed two 10 minute misconducts in game three, one in the final 10 minutes of the third period, resulting in a suspension for game four.

"They (Wellesley) got the better of us and they got the better of the refs, because they fooled those guys too," said Willsie. "We need to be more disciplined and take it, but on the other hand, it's happening every whistle. It's tough to take, when it could been stopped easily in the first period."

Smith watched game three from the stands, due to a suspension for a checking from behind penalty in the final 10 minutes of the third period.

"It was almost like whatever could go wrong in this series did. That's why I'm proud of our guys for never quitting," Willsie said. "The boys came out flying, believing that we could still win this series. Hats off to Wellesley. They deserved it, but we felt like we were fighting an uphill battle."

Wellesley opened the series with a 6-2 home win, led by a hat trick from Connor Doerbecker.

The Dolphins also lost captain Gerth to a broken ankle, for the remainder of the series.

It was a 3-2 game late in the second period when Doerbecker scored his second goal. The Applejacks added two more goals in the third.

Owen Stoddard and Matt Sturgeon scored for the Dolphins.

In a penalty filled game two at Dorchester, power play goals in the second and third period, led Wellesley to a 4-1 win.

The Dolphins were handed 34 minutes of penalty minutes to the Applejacks' 18 minutes. The Dolphins lost Nolan Candy for 10 minutes and Smith for the last half of the third period.

Game three at Wellesley, featured goals, penalties and fights, but the result was the same, with Wellesley winning 7-3.

Tied at three into the final minute of the second period, the Applejacks scored with 11 seconds remaining. The home side put the game away tallying three times in the third.

Liam Brulotte with two goals and Lucas Wilson, scored for the Dolphins.

Cooper Kilbourne and Austin Connors were involved in unpleasantries, but the biggest player loss was Milne due to a second 10-minute misconduct.

Dylan Dundas led the Dolphins with three assists and only Brulotte had more than one goal with two.
