AYLMER, Ont. - The East Elgin Eagles wasted no time picking apart their season opening opponent.
Shelby Laidlaw with four goals, Grace McLean and Dana Crinklaw, each had hat tricks, as the Eagles walked all over the Woodstock Huron Park Huskies, in Thames Valley Regional Athletics girls hockey, today at the East Elgin Community Centre.
Katelyn Dance, with two goals, Kylie McIntyre, Mya Farr, Meg McCallum and Taryn Sullivan, also scored.
"We had lots of fun for our first game," Eagles' captain Meg McCallum said. "Everyone got to play positions that they're not used too. We got to mix it up."
McLean and Allie Weesies, both picked up three assists, while Laidlaw, Farr and Hayden Dunn, collected two apples each.
The Eagles' goal is playing at WOSSAA.
"We'll work together the whole season, because we have lots of girls from different teams and three girls who don't even play hockey anymore, so we need to talk lots to be able to work together," McCallum said. "Another goal is not to get any goals scored against us. Our goalies to get a shutout every game would be pretty cool."
The captain, more known for her skills in fastball, is one of the three players playing hockey only with the Lady Eagles.
East Elgin is the only school from the Elgin County, playing in the South-East Division, joining Huron Park, Ingersoll, Woodstock Collegiate and Tillsonburg Glendale.
